Year 9 Welcome Back Letter 2024

Dear Parent,

I cannot believe we’re already well into our final term of Year 9, before we know it your child will be in Year 10! I’m very much looking forward to some nicer weather and to seeing the continued hard work that the Year 9s have been demonstrating this last term.

Our second assessment period for Year 9 is at the beginning of June. I will be encouraging pupils to use the school website to find the revision topics for each subject. These links will be updated as soon as possible, I will tell pupils when they are accurate. The Year 9 reports will then follow shortly after the assessments and should be with you by the beginning of July.

You will be notified of GCSE option subjects very soon. If there are any concerns with these, please do not hesitate in contacting myself or Mr. Edmunds.

We will be having a focus on uniform this term and I would like to thank you for your support in making sure the students are smartly presented when they arrive here in the morning. We will also be reminding students of the importance of being on time at the start of the day and at the start of each lesson.

Finally, we would like to address attendance again and remind parents that we have a legal obligation to monitor and ensure all pupils attend regularly. As parents, if you have any concerns with regard to your child’s absence please always call school and discuss this with us. Working in partnership we will ensure all pupils have the best opportunities in school and reach their full potential.

Dates for this term:

  • Thursday 2nd May: Pastoral Planning Afternoon. Students leave at 1.35
  • Monday 6th May: Bank holiday: school closed
  • Friday 24th May: students finish for the May holiday for one week
  • Monday 3rd June : Students return to school and Year 9 assessment period starts.
  • Tuesday 9th July: Sports Day (provisional)
  • Friday 12th July: third PDE day (provisional)
  • Friday 21st July: school closes for the Summer holidays. Students leave at 12.30
