Year 11 Welcome Back Letter
Dear Parent,
I hope you and your family have had a good summer and that you feel well prepared for the crucial year ahead in your child’s education.
As usual, the new Year 11 students have returned to school smart and well prepared for their learning this year. If your child isn’t in correct uniform, we will be contacting you urgently because it is imperative that the students at the top of the school set the standard for the younger students, and we therefore have even higher
expectations of Year 11 this year. If you have had difficulty obtaining any items of uniform, please inform me as soon as possible and we will see what we can do to help. If you have any queries regarding uniform, the policy is on the parent’s section of the website.
As regards equipment, it is obviously a priority that students’ learning in lessons goes smoothly and you will be contacted as a matter of urgency if they are not well organised with essentials such as pens, Maths equipment and their planner.
Please continue to contact form tutors initially regarding queries or concerns about your son or daughter, a they play a vital day to day role in the pastoral care of your child. Year 11 Form Tutors and email addresses are as follows:

Important dates for your diary:
Monday 9 October: Year 8/11 Drayton Manor Rewards trip
Wednesday 25 October: Staff training afternoon – students leave at 1.35pm
Monday 30 October: Half Term week.
Monday 13 November: Year 11 First Mock Exams start.
Wednesday 6 December: Year 11 Parents’ Evening
Wednesday 20 December: Carol Service 7.00pm
You will see that one of the events above is Year 11 Expectations Evening. This is to inform you about what the year ahead holds for Year 11 students and to give parents ideas on how best to support your child through their exams.
If you have not already done so, please do download the college’s Synergy parent app as this contains lots of useful information and is now the primary method of communication from college to parents.
We believe communication is the key to building good relationships between school and home and are always keen to meet with parents to resolve matters face to face. We fully understand that urgent issues can arise but please bear in mind that we cannot always see parents who arrive without notice during the school day. Staff are often teaching or in meetings. Please call ahead to arrange a mutually convenient time to meet rather than arrive at school unannounced and risk disappointment if no one is available. Many thanks for your understanding on this matter and thank you for your continued support.
Yours sincerely
Mr Dobson
Head of Year 11
