A letter from a past pupil

To Mr McClarey and all of the staff at Blesseds,

Thank you all for the infinite care, support and encouragement you have provided over the last 5 years. It’s because of you that I’m here now with an excellent set of GCSEs, but also firmly in the knowledge that I’m a person of better character for coming to Blesseds.

I remember vividly in year 6 umming and ahhing over whether to go to another city school or Blesseds. But for me it was never really a choice, yes my head said that Blesseds had the better exam results, but it was my heart that clinched it for me. Going round the college during open evening and meeting all of the staff and students, by the time I walked out the front door I knew that Blesseds was going to be my home. 5 years and 10 GCSEs later, I know without hesitation that I made the right decision, as I would not have the exam results I have now had I gone to that other school but also, and I believe more importantly, I wouldn’t have found a small sense of the importance of religion, which has guided me through college, and the last 5 months.

I was going to thank specific teachers and staff for their help in guiding me through college, but in all honesty I couldn’t not write about every member of staff I have come across in the last 5 years. Mr Nicholls, my first form tutor, Mrs Pritchard our excellent and ever dutiful head of year, Mr James, my first RE teacher, Mr Robinson, 4 years as my form tutor, and Mrs Duncan, history teacher for 3 years, and then college play director for 2 years. Not to mention all of my other teachers, the canteen staff, the college workmen and cleaners. All of whom playing a vital part in making the college the home that it is. That is what makes Blesseds different from all of the other high schools in Worcestershire, it is not simply a school, it is a home for all those who pass through our doors.

Blesseds will always have a place in my heart, as Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College is part of who I am, and I wouldn’t change that for the world. I will continue to say the college prayer and make and say the sign of the cross whenever I am in difficult times, but also when I am not.

So thank you to everyone at Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College, for everything you have done for me over the last 5 years, and I suppose the last thing to say is, goodbye.

Best wishes to everyone
