Year 11 Welcome Letter
September 2022
Dear Parents,
I hope you and your family have had a good summer and that you feel well prepared for the important year ahead in your child’s education. I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate the students who took Cambridge National Award units this year, towards their final GCSE awards, in Enterprise and Marketing, i Media, Sports Science and those students who took Polish GCSE. The students in our year group achieved excellent results and this is a very promising sign for their achievement next year. It will also give them the chance to evaluate their revision strategies ready for the final exams next summer.
As usual, the new Year 11 students have returned to school smart and well prepared for their learning this year. If your child isn’t in correct uniform we will be contacting you urgently because it is imperative that the students at the top of the school set the standard for the younger ones and we therefore have even higher expectations of them this year. If you have had difficulty obtaining any items of uniform please inform me as soon as possible and I will see what we can do to help. As regards equipment, it is obviously a priority that students’ learning in lessons goes smoothly and you will be contacted as a matter of urgency if they are not well organised with essentials such as pens, Maths equipment and their planner.
Important dates for your diary:
- Thursday 15th September: Year 11 Expectations Evening 6.30pm
- Friday 16th September: Year 11 trip to Llanrug
- Monday 19th September: Recall tests for Year 11.

You will see that one of the events above is Year 11 Expectations Evening. This is to inform you about what the year ahead holds for Year 11 students and to give you ideas on how best to support your child through their exams.
We believe communication is the key to building good relationships between school and home and are always keen to meet with parents to resolve matters face to face. We fully understand that urgent issues can arise but please bear in mind that we cannot always see parents who arrive without notice during the school day. Staff are often teaching or in meetings. Please call ahead to arrange a mutually convenient time to meet rather than arrive at school unannounced and risk disappointment if no one is available. Many thanks for your understanding on this matter. Tutors for this year will remain the same, with the exception of 11 Jones, who will have Mrs Ford and Mrs Ingram.
Yours faithfully,
Ms Pratty
Head of Year 11
